The SCROME SeaOwl VizIR marine surveillance system selected to equip the Prelude FLNG
Alcatel-Lucent, who is providing the telecommunications package along with the Technip Samsung Consortium (TSC) for Shell's new Prelude "floating liquefied natural gas" (FLNG) facility, has selected the SeaOwl VizIR solution to manage the maritime security bubble around the FLNG platform.
Prelude is the first in a series of FLNG facilities and at 600,000 tonnes will be the largest floating structure ever built.
The Scrome VizIR solution detects marine presence in the vicinity of the FLNG platform within a radius of several miles, defines them and ensures identification of potential threats by means of a combination of panoramic thermal IR cameras (HGH Vigiscan) and PTZ thermal IR and visible spectrum cameras (Synectics).
VizIR's algorithmic intelligence enables alerts to be prioritised by constantly crosschecking its information with that coming from on-board equipment (Radar, AIS...). Delivery of the Vizir solution is scheduled for 2013.
